When I first graduated from high school I was confused as to the course I wanted to take for my future job. At the time, I was short on expenses and could not afford even my rent. To be able to supplement my income while I chose my career, I took a short program at South Suburban College to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. I began my first job in the nursing field as a CNA near the end of 2008. It wasn't until my husband graduated with his Doctorates that I decided to go back to school for my RN license. I took the long route to ensure that I could manage school working full time and having three children at home. I completed my Associate's Degree of Nursing in 2020 from Moraine Valley. In 2022 I completed my Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing before progressing to my Master's Degree. Now, in 2026, I will have my Master's Degree in Nursing, focusing on Family Nurse Practitioner. I have not yet taken the boards, but I plan to be able to work within the community as a RN until I can successfully transition into the role of FNP. Education and providing excellent, compassionate care is a goal for me. I plan to become an instructor at Moraine Valley once my degree has been finalized.
